Our guest speaker on Friday, November 15, 2024 was Carol Lamar, Executive Director from Purrfect Pals. Carol has been with the organization for over eleven years. The theme is "Cats and the Community, We Serve."
Purrfect Pals was founded by Kathy Centala, working out of her house in Brier. As the organization grew, Kathy decided to move to Arlington in 1993. There are two satellite adoption centers in Renton and Marysville.
Three reasons that cause people to surrender their pets: 1) access to veterinary care; 2) behavior issues; 3) housing issues. The organization is hoping to offer a low-cost vaccine center soon.
Currently, there is a venture with the Monroe Corrections Center. Some of the inmates' families adopt the cats when they leave the Corrections Center. The clinic currently is housed in a 500 ft. clinic. A building campaign is underway to increase the size of the facility to 3,000 sq. ft.
