Memorial Service

The Lake Stevens Assembly of God Church hosted a beautiful memorial service on Saturday, July 13 2013 for our dear friend, Vern Foster. As Pastor Russ Larson said, it is a Celebration of Life! Over 500 people attended the memorial service representing all of the areas of Lake Stevens that Vern touched in his short time with us. There were parents of children he mentored as a Youth Pastor, customers, Lake Stevens Police Department members, Lake Stevens Fire Department members, Getchell Fire Department members, additional Fire Departments far and wide, Lake Stevens Chamber of Commerce, Lake Stevens Lions Club members and of course several of our Rotarians. Several former members of our Club were there as well.

He had over the last few years developed a friendship with a Bryon Duncan, a Christian musician. Unfortunately, Bryon couldn't be at the celebration, but he had recorded a song and a separate message. Many attending spoke about Vern during a time of Open Sharing. Loren talked about going into do some business with Vern and ended up sponsoring him for membership in our club.  Very inspiring to hear about the many facets of Vern Foster's life, deeds and accomplishments. During a slide show we got to see numerous photographs of Vern over his life. In each one of them he had a huge smile on his face. Especially so when he was in a photo with his wife Donna and/or their children.

We will miss him. Don't forget to stop by Foster Press and talk to the family. As the enormity of this loss starts to sink in, they will need our support more than ever. Donations to cover the medical expenses are being collected at any branch of Opus Bank under the Foster Family name or at the Foster Strong website.  Vern touched so many of us while in his presence that he will be sorely missed and he already is being missed by many of us.
