Hannah Sladek, Senior Community Development Manager for the American Cancer Society and a member of our Club, spoke at our meeting on October 11th, about the upcoming "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk" on October 26th. Our Club is hosting a team for the walk. Theme is "What Unites Us Ignites Us".
Making Strides Walks have raised money for breast cancer research. There are 160 grants related to breast cancer research totaling $64.3 million dollars. During the past decade there has been a 40% reduction in breast cancer patients. Catching it early makes it much more treatable. Innovative research and supporting patients is upper most in the campaign against breast cancer. The goal is to raise $125,000 and they are currently at over $90,000. So far, Northwest Aerospace is the top team raising over $17,000 for this walk. Avon is the National Sponsor of the Making Strides Walks.
