Landslide

The Rotary Club of Lake Stevens extends its thoughts and prayers to the people affected by March 22nd landslide in Oso. We also extend our support and thanks to the hundreds of people that have responded to search for victims and set up shelters and fundraisers. Many organizations including the Snohomish County Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Cascade Valley Hospital Foundation are having fundraisers and accepting donations for wide variety of items. Many business have rallied around the communities directly affected by this--Arlington, Darrington and Oso. Our hats off to the governmental agencies and their staffs that have responded as well and are working toward workable solutions in returning to some sort of normalcy. This group includes the Snohomish County Department of Public Works in opening the Mountain Loop Highway, FEMA and our own County Department of Emergency Management.

You seen the photos and videos. They are incredible. You hear of disasters in other parts of the country and they may receive a federal disaster declaration, but, you just never think it could be in our own community. This has made worldwide news. The rest of us can do our part by directly donating and/or participating in the various fundraisers and activities raising money and supplies. If we were in a similar situation it's good to know that we would receive the same support.
