Phil Rink addresses our Club on Friday, June 7th, as a writer and publisher of Jimi and Isaac books for kids. What do you do when there are virtually no books being written for kids today? Well, you step away from your normal career and produce a book especially targeted at kids in a storytelling fashion and he talked about the challenges of the publishing industry prompting Phil and Nancy to become self-publishers. It all started with his daughter's interest in books and the inability to have good books for kids. It took them eight years to develop books about Jimi and Isaac. Phil and Nancy Rink are both entrepreneurs and mechanical engineers. They work for themselves and for large and small electronics, nuclear and aerospace companies. In the 1990's they developed Fisheye Underwater Video cameras, the first product of its kind in the industry. Phil is a professional engineer and an accomplished inventor with eleven patents so far and Nancy is an award-winning mechanical engineer with a professional background in work planning and business management. They also established local Parent Booster Club and initiated and ran their local Science Fair. Both are avid boaters including living for four years on a boat in the Mexican Pacific.
