Our guest speaker on Friday, February 28th was Linda Allen from the Friends of the Library. The organization started in 1998 is a volunteer run 501 (c)(3) charitable organization which ensures that every dollar donated, or spent goes to important library programs.
The organization is focused on sponsoring the Apple library and on the new library which is just under construction. Children and teens section of the library is where they are focusing their attention and raising funds for this effort.
They raise funds through spring and winter book sales including baskets which usually sell for $35-$40 dollars. The goal of their fundraising effort is $100,000. The stories that shaped us. Our member Anthony Hawley will be a table champion. Sponsor opportunities begin at $5,000 for the top level. The major fundraising event will be at the Lake Stevens Community Food Bank on September 27th. They are in need of an auctioneer.
