Our program last week was City Councilwoman Mark Dickinson appearing for the "Friends of the Library." Sno-Isle Library will start clearing the property on Chapel Hill within the next several days. The large boulder (a glacial erratic) will be kept in place and incorporated into the property design. The architect firm Building Work has been hired to design the new library. You can stay updated by visiting Sno-Isle/FutureLakeStevensLibrary.
Mary spoke about some of the programs being offered at the Library on Grade Road. The library sells books to kids in the "Book Nook" for $25. The Little Library and the little train that the kids can sit on when they come into the library is extremely popular. The Friends of the Library are looking to buy a couple of desks to allow parents to use the computer while visiting the library.

Mary asked Rotary members for comments about the vision for the property adjacent to the library that the City is going to sell. The cost to build a new City Hall is prohibitive right now so the City decided to sell the property. Could it be used for a park or is there other alternative uses besides a high-rise apartment complex or selling to a developer?

Chris Smith has been talking to Sno-Isle Library about incorporating space for his Clear-Zone project, but nothing has been decided at this point.
