Our guest speaker on March 14th was Maddy Metzger-Utt, President and CEO of the Greater Everett Community Foundation and the current President of the Rotary Club of Everett. The goal of the organization is Looking Forward, Giving Back. The poet Anatole France, commented that "To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream: not only plan, but also believe". The Greater Everett Community Foundation serves all of Snohomish County.

Smart people, sound investments and a focus on the community keeps the Community Foundation going strong. The objectives of the Foundation are simple: promote charitable giving; impact the community through grantmaking and link donors and non-profits. The endowments are funds that are invested together and earnings are used for grantmaking. The Foundation's return on investment was an impressive 17% in 2013. Currently working with her husband and other donors on a "Build a Fund".

The type of funds are from agency endowments; community funds; designed funds; donor advised funds and scholarship funds. The Foundation has provided Arlington with its Scholarship Funds. Other funds consists of Trust for Tomorrow which is a easy way to transfer assets to charity and leave a legacy for our community. Most of the grants are in the $2,500 range.
