Mick Monken, Director of Public Works for the City of Lake Stevens updated the Club on traffic revisions for the north section of Frontier Village. The number one complaint that the city receives involves exiting Frontier Village. In attempt to quell some of the traffic flow problems on the north side, there will be a single lane mini-roundabout at the Safeway Gas Station/Les Schwab exit on N Davies Rd. They will also add a mini-roundabout at the intersection of N Davies and Vernon Rd. This project should ease the traffic flow problems on North Davies and the cost will be much less if the City had excepted funding from the WSDOT. Construction should begin within a few weeks and targeted to be completed by July 4th. Stops signs will be set up until the island is completed.
The Federal Department of Transportation helped model this project and offered to fund it. The is one of ten roundabout projects in the United States and Lake Stevens' was the number one project. However, the City opted not to take the federal funding since this would require much more than is needed to get this project completed.
Long range solutions is the goal of delivering better access to and from Frontier Village to Lake Stevens and SR9 and SR204. Great update and thanks to Mick for taking time to update our Club members.
