While the rest of us enjoyed a day of relaxation, three of our members attended the District's Grant Seminar in Mt. Vernon. Debe, Tracy and Sam sat with our District Governor Bill Robson, enjoyed listening to some of his stories and a surprise visit by one of our RI Zone Director's Julia Phelps who was traveling through the area.

All three commented that there was a lot of useful information presented at the seminar that will help with our upcoming grants. Particular interest in taping into the Canadian government match. In affect, we have a 3.5 multiplier so that $10,000 becomes a $35,000 grant but with the Canadian government match, it only takes $6,000 to become a $35,000 grant. Wow, exciting possibilities for the skateboard park, the food bank or Bali which Debe talked about during the seminar.

Debe met another Rotarian at the seminar who was going to Bali in a few weeks and was able to share helpful information with them. Plus a member of the Sedro Woolley Club suggested that we look at their skateboard park information on their website. The skateboard park was recently completed and sponsored by their club. Tracy liked hearing from other clubs about their projects even identifying mistakes that can and do happen. Sam was impressed with the talk by RI Zone Director Julia Phelps. Should be a great precursor to PETS at the end of the month.
