Fellow Rotarians - I'd like to thank you all for attending our club meeting September 3, 2010, District Governor Wayne Wiebe delivered a great program. Club attendance was outstanding and many of you worked hard to help put this together. Thank you!

District Governor Wayne discussed district goals and I'd like to share them again.

1.      Net +1 member(s) per club in the district

2.      Increase participation in district committees

3.      Restore annual fund giving

4.      Ensure club Presidents have a good year

5.      Recognize achievements

6.      Have fun!

Here is an update on club contributions towards these goals.

1.      We've inducted 1 new member this year.  Congratulations and welcome to Diane ‘Scotty’ Swift! (in photo)

2.      District Governor Wayne indicated this goal is being achieved.

3.      I have not seen the latest Rotary Foundation Club Contributions report, so I can't give status yet.

4.      District Governor Wayne was impressed with our club and recognized the Born Learning Trail (partially funded by DSG) and Monterrico Health & Education Clinic (partially funded by TRF grant) projects.

In addition, the club raised over $10,000 during Aquafest and committees are currently setting goals based on the club vision plan.

5.      We've been recognizing club members throughout the year.  At our last meeting District Governor Wayne and I recognized three additional club members:

·         Jim Kooy

Jim is a new member who has been actively involved in club activities.  He assisted with the Beer Garden and Aquafest fundraising events, and joined the Community service committee.  Jim represents the type of new member we are searching for.

·         Gary O'Rielly

Gary has organized a new and well-balanced membership committee.  Membership is a major Rotary initiative and Gary is helping lead our efforts towards this.

·         John Huber

John helped lead efforts for the Beer Garden project and also sold nearly $2,000 in duck dash tickets.  John truly leads by example and is a role model for us all.

Congratulations to Jim, Gary and John!

In addition, District Governor Wayne awarded a Paul Harris Fellow to Scott Smith.  Congratulations Scott!

6.      Our club is known for fun and many thanks to David Johnson for introducing a new style of good spirited entertainment.  If you have not seen the picture of District Governor Wayne taking out David let me know.

Once again I’d like to thank you all for your extraordinary efforts.  I’m looking forward to our continued humanitarian efforts within the community and around the world.
