District Govenor Visits: Talks About the Future

At the regular Club Meeting, September 4, District Govenor Larry Jubie, gave an engaging presentation about Rotary and District 5050. He shared that he and his wife, Linda, have visited 35 Clubs in the District so far. They just got back from a week in British Columbia, where almost half of the District's Clubs are located.

He assisted Club President Debe Franz in presenting a few new Paul Harris Fellowships as well as recognizing others, including Loren Hole, with the second and third PH Fellowships. Thank you to all of the Rotarians for their financial support. Later he was joined by Debe in presenting James Monroe with a Rotary Pilot pin in recongnition of his service to the club. "He has stepped up where there was a need and has greatly helped the Club in a variety of ways," Debe said in her remarks before announcing that James would be receiving the pin. Larry shared that during his preparation for becoming District Governor, he had attended several training functions one of which included a presentation by incoming RI President John Kenny. Larry recalled that John said that the future of Rotary is definitely in the hands of each member of each Club. The Members are the ones who plan the activities, fundraisers, service projects as well as participate in those along side of the multitude of other supporters of Rotary.

Larry then went on to tell us about a couple of his trips to Guatemala with the Hands for Peace organization (founded by Snohomish Rotarian Leonn Aller). On one of the trips he took his then 15 year old son. He reflected on how this and a couple of more trips to Guatemala had an affect on his son. He also told us about the conditions in which people live in the areas he has visited and worked in.

Debe presented the Jubie's with a bag of several varities of chocolate to enjoy. Thank you Larry and Linda for your service to Rotary. It was great having you visit our Club!
