We are pleased to announce that the Rotary Club of Lake Stevens has sponsored another Scout program here in town. Venturing is a coed program of the Boy Scouts of America. Venturing is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth, adult leaders, and organizations in their communities. The result is a program of exciting and meaningful activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, develop leadership skills, and become good citizens.

Venturing is a youth development program for young men and women 14 years of age and older OR 13 and graduated eighth grade but not yet 21. Venturing's purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and porepare them to become responsible and caring adults.

Our group is known as Crew 88. Debbie Granston is serving as the Crew Committee Chair and Jay Rairigh is the Advisor. They will advise the youth on activities and program, but, unlike Cub Scouts where the adults make all of the decisions or Boy Scouts where the adults guide the boys on decision making, the youth of our Crew will be making all of the decisions about the program. They could focus on one or a limited number of program ideas, but, from what we've heard about the kids in our Crew they want to venture into a variety of activities.

Currently we have youth members from Lake Stevens and Snohomish and they are looking for more members. If you know of eligible youth or kids who are about to turn 14, let them know about our Venturing program.
