Club Assembly - December 2012

At the Club Assembly this month, officers and directors updated members on the various events and activities that the Club is doing. Tomorrow is distribution day for Bikes for Tykes. Over 50 bicycles are ready for kids in families who might not otherwise receive a gift of this magnitude. Jim Kelley announced that the committee for planning the winetasting fundraiser will be meeting soon. They are looking a couple of different venues--a new banquet-type place in Snohomish and Jackson Hall at the Everett Community College.

Doug Newman, Assistant District Governor, gave a presentation about Rotary. This month's Rotary theme is Family. A video was shown about a mobile food bank project in southeastern Missouri. Several Clubs in that area had combined to make this project happen. With the truck now many more families in the 29 county area are able to provide meals for the children. They are planning a second truck within a year.

He shared a second video about families in need after a devestating wildfire in the San Diego area. The Rotary Club of Poway gave out several hundred dollars each to many of the families that lost everything. Powerful videos.
