Club Assembly

The February 28th program was the Club Assembly with Loren Hole, Past President, running the last meeting of February which was designated as Past President's month. Loren commented that the idea to have Past President's run the meetings in February to give the current President of the Club a break was an idea he put into practice during his term of office.
 

President-Elect Gary O'Rielly shared the outcome of the PETS program. PETS stands for President Elect Training Seminar. PETS program was dedicated to Membership, Foundation and networking. Great speakers, inspiring conversations and getting better acquainted with other club President-Elects, dialoguing with Lyle Ryan, District Governor-Elect and Marc Baker, Assistant District Governor. The District is putting together a networking list by club so that when Rotarians are traveling if they are looking for a particular business they can locate it on the District website. The networking space is free unless a business or professional service wants to add a logo and more information for $100 a year with the members club getting $50.00.

Tracy DeLorm reported on the Wine, Beer Tasting and Silent Auction. Tracy is worried about ticket sales and getting enough baskets and gift donations. Each member is responsible for either producing two auction baskets or two businesses to donate an auction item. A list of ideas is on our website. List is to be given to Tracy by March 14th. Jim Haugen reported that Total Wines is donating "wine tasting for 20" as a auction item. John Huber talked about additional wineries and beer distributors that will be participating in the April 11th fundraiser.

Skateboard Park update by Jim Kelley. Since Jim is on the City Parks Commission which gives us a voice with city and county leaders that have responsibility for ensuring a world-class skateboard park is developed in a timely period. Jim reported that at his latest City Parks Committee meeting, the Commissioners viewed a description describing a $1 million dollar project which included $650,000 for a SkateBoard Park. The City and County have committed $250,000 each to the project with the balance coming from grants and contributions. Target appears to be mid-2015 for completion of the Skateboard Park.

Secretary's Report.  Its time to choose a RYLA candidate. During a visit to Rainey's Days Cafe following the Club Assembly, Bill Demeroutis and Gary O'Rielly discovered a great candidate working for Rainey and who is very interested. We showed her the website which included an application. Rainey will talk to her staff on Sunday during the staff meeting but we have a candidate to offer to the Board it appears at this point.

Membership - Welcome to our newest member Darek Olson.

Scholarships - The Vocations Committee chaired by Terri Spenser met at her house this past week to view the scholarship process. James Monroe is serving as chair of the scholarship committee. This year, scholarships will only be available to Lake Stevens High School seniors. Timetable and assignments were given out during the meeting. Terri updated the club on all of these activities.

A brief discussion occurred on the budget by Loren but with time running out and the gavel in his hand, the bank and his records are in agreement. Meeting was adjourned seconds afterwards.
