Club Assembly

At our regular meeting, June 15th, Club members present reviewed the planning for Aquafest. James Monroe gave an update on the status of the Duck Float. It will need a repair for a portion of the cover and new fringe around the base. James also asked about our participation in the Kla-Ha-Ya days Parade in Snohomish the Saturday before Aquafest. There was unanimous consent not to participate this year. James also mentioned the Strawberry Festival Parade tomorrow evening (Sat, June 16th). He would like to see our float in that parade next year.
Scott Smith directed that James set a date and time for the repair. Dave Johnson advised that his wife is willing to clean all of the ducks for the Duck Dash. Historically, the "Duck Sorting" Party has been hosted by the Hole's. They are willing to host again if it works out.
Tracy DeLorm updated everyone on the food booth program. We will not be selling nachos. Kathy Little is looking for a source of large pickles to sell instead. The reason is that the Club lost money on the nachos last year and had quite a bit of supplies left over. Once the shifts have been established a message will go out to the members and friends asking you to register your participation online at the Club website.
This then led to a discussion of canopies. Do we borrow one or two like we have in the past? Or, do we buy our own? Consensus was to acquire our own, but, what size? Two 10' x 10's or one 10' x 20'. Having two presents a challenge in that rain would fall in between the two 10' x 10's. While this was going on James and Gary did some research online. (There is wi-fi access in the meeting space.) Most agreed that having one 10' x 20' tent was the best way to go even though having 10' x 10's provided greater flexibility to be able to use the canopies for other events and activities that the Club does and/or is involved in.
Bill Demeroutis gave an update on the sponsors for the Duck Dash. We have quite a number of them and we will be going to print by the end of next week.
There was also conversation about the Diaper Dash. It was highly recommended that the mats not be left out in the sun for the babies to crawl on. The mats get extremely hot. It was suggested that the mats get laid out right before Dash time.
President-Elect Smith thanked everyone for working on this year's Aquafest!
