Candidate Forum
The Lake Stevens Chamber of Commerce held a Candidate Forum today to give Chamber members and guests an opportunity to hear from candidates for Lake Stevens Board of Commissioners, Lake Stevens City Council, Lake Stevens School District and Snohomish County Council District 5.
Six of the eight candidates for Fire Commissioner were present: Arlene Hulten, Brett Blankenship, Bob McMahan, Paul Gagnon, Steve Dazey and Jim Steinruck. They each had two minutes to present themselves about who they are and why they feel they would best serve the residents of Fire District 8. There wasn't enough time to field questions. Corey Stevens couldn't be there but had a prepared statement read to the group.
John Boerger is running for School Board position #5. His opponent was not present.
Marcus Tangent and Mike Boe are running for City Council position #7. Tangent is the incumbent.
Dave Somers and Chris Vallo are running for County Council position #5. District 5 covers all of southeast Snohomish County. Vallo is the challenger.
These five candidates, after opening statements, fielded a number of questions about their views on transportation, education, urban growth, new business opportunities and other issues.
Those in attendence were appreciative of the opportunity to hear from these candidates and talk to them afterwards. Thank you to the Lake Stevens Chamber of Commerce for hosting this forum.
