Bikes for Tykes

The joy of receiving was evidence on the faces of the children coming with their parents to pick up a new bike and a helmet on Saturday at Ebenezer Lutheran Church. Fifty-eight plus boys and girls left the Church with a new bike and helmet fitting. Another very successful Bikes for Tykes giveaway. This was a partnership between the Rotary Club of Lake Stevens and the Family Center, the Lake Stevens Fire Department and Ebenezer. Fightfighters were on hand to provide the helmet fitting and to talk to the families and children. The Family Center was there with two volunteers to assist with the spanish speaking families and Ebenezer provided the distribution point for these families to pick up the bikes and helmets.
Bikes for Tykes is in its 12th year and has been a very successful fundraiser providing new and like-new bikes for deserving children whose families register with the Lake Stevens Family Center each year. The Club's theme each year has always been, "Shouldn't every kid get a bike for Christmas?" and this year was no different. Congratulations to John Huber and David Johnson, Co-Chairs along with help from Jim Kelley and family, Ken Collins and son Mac, Larry Saint, Bill Demeroutis, our esteemed leader Scott Smith, James Monroe plus the fightfighters and staff of the Lake Stevens Fire District and of course the assistance of the two volunteers from the Lake Stevens Family Center. Great job everyone.
