Keith Binkley and Eric Adman from Adopt a Stream and Northwest Stream Center were are guest speakers on Friday, February 6th working in a shared the leadership role for the local non-profit. They have been in their roles for about a year. Previously, both served on the Board. Their efforts are part-time with a strong commitment to the organization.
Eric takes care of education and organization reach out. Eric was on the Board for over 15 years and is a former EMS professional. Keith retired from the Snohomish PUD. Eric spoke about the history of the Adopt a Stream organization which is a 501c(3) organization. The Northwest Stream Center is the jewel of the Adopt A Stream program in Snohomish County. Their trout stream exhibit is man made and as stated the jewel of the organization locally.
They give away live Christmas trees where families can take them home for the Christmas celebration and can either plant them at their homes or bring them back to be planted along a stream. They have the elevated forest and wetlands exhibit. There are four game cameras set up around their site showcasing all kinds of wildlife seen at the Northwest Stream Center.
There is the video of a virtual stroll on the narrated by Tom Murdoch. The walk is limited to five participants at a time. As indicated, you can see all kinds of wildlife on the stroll. Currently, Adopt A Stream and Northwest Stream Center are creating the first sustainable ecosystem lab in the country. There are rain gardens on the site. This is a $1.5 million dollar campaign for the development of the ecosystem. Trees shade the streams providing colder clearer water streams for the fish.
