One of the major benefits of AquaFest each year is it is the melting pot of Lake Stevens where the community comes together in celebration which was the subject of last week's program by Janice Huxford. In 2010 and 2015, Janice served as the President of AquaFest. The first term was devoted to emphasizing Lake Stevens. She found that the hardest sell job outside of Lake Stevens was telling people that we are actually are on a lake. One of the important elements during 2010 and again in 2015 was working with community leaders and businesses and the importance of their being a major part of AquaFest.

Changes in leadership each year are important to bring new thoughts and ideas to AquaFest she stated. New ideas added to AquaFest. Now there is a contractor on site to oversee the saftey of the public and the vendors. And a new professional sound engineer on sight to make sure all announcements can be heard throughout the AquaFest venue. Stepping up in the leadership roles are Cory and Pam Stevens who are moving up the leadership ladder. Someone new is running the car show and is promoting the AquaFest Car Show at all major car shows around Washington State this spring and summer. New is the Lake Stevens pageant and a queen who will represent Lake Stevens and AquaFest throughout the year under an agreement and contract. Also added is a Stand Up paddle board competition to the agenda for lake activities during AquaFest.
