2013 Scholarships Awarded

The Rotary Club of Lake Stevens gave $5,000 in scholarships to six seniors from Lake Stevens High School and Granite Falls High School at a ceremony during the Club's weekly meeting May 24th. Each of the recipients were interviewed by the Club's Vocational Committee prior to their selection.
 

Scholarships were given to the following by Dean Franz, Chair of the Vocational Committee:  

Keith Acfalle, Lake Stevens High School, will be attending University of Washington majoring in Chemical Engineering. Keith is this year's Senior Class President.  

Blake Sander, Lake Stevens High School, will be attending University of Washington and majoring in Engineering & Pre-medicine. Blake was Captain of the School soccer team playing all four years.   

Ryland Ploeger, Lake Stevens High School, will be attending Gonzaga University and will be majoring in Criminal Trial Law with a desire to be a prosecutor in Spokane, Washington after graduation.  

Joe Hendrickson, Lake Stevens High School, will be attending the University of Washington majoring in biochemistry, science and medicine. Joe was a member of the Varsity Basketball team and was a coach at a basketball camp.  

Emily Schneider, Granite Falls High School, will be attending Western Washington University. Emily was a Captain on the Varsity basketball team, a Freshman Orientation Leader and wants to have a career in elementary and secondary education.  

Pooja Sethi, Granite Falls High School, will be attending the University of Washington and will be majoring in computer engineering. Pooja worked on the Eco-Car Engineer program in high school.

Each year, the Rotary Club of Lake Stevens works with both high schools under the chairmanship of Dean Franz and the Vocational Committee. Interviews of all candidates are scheduled for each school and the committee selects the recipients for each years awards.
