Biography Reed Eckstrom

Reed retired from the U.S. Navy after serving for 28 years.  He was a Naval Aviator with flying tours in P-3 Orion squadrons and as an instructor pilot teaching both new and experienced pilots.  When he was not flying, he held many shore duty assignments and finished his career as the Total Force Manpower Director for Commander, Installations Command in Washington D.C.

After his Navy career he worked as a Project Manager for Concurrent Technologies Corporation.  There he managed human resource, performance management, and process reengineering projects.

Today he is retired and spends his time volunteering with various organizations.  At the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI),  he is a trained facilitator for two of their signature programs, Family to Family and Home Front.  Both classes are for family members, partners, and supportive friends of an adult living with a mental illness.  The classes provide information to help all family members understand and support their loved one living with mental illness, while maintaining their own well-being.   The difference between the two courses is that Homefront provides information to those supporting a veteran.
