Skagit Kids Read Week is an annual community celebration of reading and literacy featuring an author that can travel to Skagit County for events. Strategic events are normally held in schools, libraries and child care centers, as well as an event at the Children’s Museum of Skagit County with the author onsite to do a reading, provide opportunities for literacy activities and engage the child, families and caregivers with resources to extend them at home.
While the COVID-19 pandemic did provide a bit of a challenge, we were excited to host the event via Zoom on Friday, March 29th. Children's author Barney Saltzberg shared his book "Crazy Hair Day" with an audience of children and their parents. He not only read his book but also shared his drawing skills. Children were encouraged to share their own crazy hair at the event.
