Thank you for your interest in the Concert of Songs Celebrating Mehragan. It will be a live performance presented by Edris Foroughi and his brother Veysroo and accompanist Sepehr Eghdami, along with the 16-member Ava Choir. Hosting this event will be our Rotarian Board member Marty Fadaei, a friend of many years of Edris and Veysroo and the catalyst for this concert.

Mehragan is an ancient Iranian holiday celebrating the autumnal equinox, just as Now Ruz celebrates the vernal equinox. The concert also recognizes the contributions of Iranian-Americans to our society.

The concert will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2019, at the Agoura Hills Calabasas Community Center at 27040 Malibu Road, Calabasas, CA 91301.  The doors open at 2:00 pm; the performance begins at 2:30 pm with a half hour of songs with the Ava Choir. Following is a half hour intermission. The performance resumes at 3:30 pm for songs performed by Edris, Veysroo and Sepehr. The performance concludes at 5:00 pm. The songs in Farsi will have a translation shown on the wall behind the performers. These songs stem from a journey which Edris made as a young man throughout the various regions of Iran to study the regional music. Edris has been a popular radio host at Radio Hamrah, FM3 94.7 and has a graduate degree in musicology.

Light refreshments will be served during intermission. We expect to have some CD’s for sale along with other souvenirs of Iranian culture.
