Rotary loses beloved member
The Rotary Club of Bishop is mourning the passing of one of our long-time members. President Kay O'Brien, announced the sad news at the July 28th noon Tuesday Club meeting that a beloved member, Clark Conder, died July 25, 2009 at his home in Bishop. Clark was a member of the Rotary Club of Bishop since 1955. At 96 years old, Clark remained active and attended meetings until just three weeks before his death.
The club helped Clark celebrate his 96th birthday April 1, 2009. He attended the "demotion dinner" for the club's president, Dana Crom, just last month and was his usual gracious and happy self. "He was a wonderful example of a dedicated Rotarian," Kay O'Brien said. Clark loved to talk about his many travels for Rotary functions worldwide and how he loved meeting fellow Rotarians everywhere he traveled. The Rotary "Four Way Test" was an inspiration to his life. He followed it by saying, "Is it the Truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?" "The Club appreciated his many years of devotion and help in our community and for the many Rotary Programs worldwide," Kay O'Brien said. "He will be missed, but will be in our memories forever."
