Dana Crom, Attorney at Law, Public Defender and President Elect of The Noon Rotary Club of Bishop has developed "Reaching Out Programs" for Rotarians to assist in the local juvenile justice system.  Arrangements have been made for Rotarians to visit the local juvenile detention facility in Independence where they can share their life experiences and talk about opportunities available for future education and work.

Rotarian, Mike Gable, started off the program as the first speaker, speaking about his career as a physical therapist and the road he took to get there (which included some bumps!)

Lead Teacher, Lynelle Romero, welcomed Dana Crom, Edward and Patricia Nahin on February 14, 2008 when they came to her classroom to speak with the students.  Edward and Patricia shared their experiences of travel to Africa along with showing a digital presentation on wildlife in Kenya.  Edward also shared his "early days" working in a drug store and then deciding to become a Pharmacist.  The students asked questions about lion prides, how they cared for their young and how some of the wildlife hunt and where they lived.

Plans have been made for Rotarians to visit the detention facility on a regular basis.  The goal is to provide support and information to the children to let them know they are important to our community and that they can change their past life style and start planning their future now.
