Local Bishop Rotarians GSE team leaders Jeff Griffith and James Wilson welcomed GSE Team members to The Rotary Club of Bishop noon meeting Tuesday, May 24th.  The Rotary Foundation’s Group Study Exchange (GSE) program is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for business people and professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 who are in the early stages of their careers.  The program provides travel grants for teams to exchange visits in paired areas of different countries.  For four to six weeks, team members experience the host country’s culture and institutions, observe how their vocations are practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships and exchange ideas.  Heber Ivan Saaverde Espejo was the team leader from Rotary District 4460 in Peru.  His team included Carmen Moreno Pena, attorney, Leonardo Rosas Vallebuona, TV producer, Christian Garcia Merino, Administration Manager and Victor Jara Quiroz, surgeon.  The team members gave a quick presentation of their beautiful country, Peru, and graciously thanked everyone involved in making their stay in Bishop a wonderful opportunity to experience the Eastern Sierra way of life.

 

The combined Bishop Rotary clubs picked up the GSE team at Coso Junction Saturday, May 21st, Sunday, the team spent a day with their host families and Monday they were taken on a tour of Bristle Cone Pines followed by a dinner held at the home of Dave and Vivian Patterson.  On Tuesday the team  had their vocational meetings, attended the Bishop Rotary meeting at Whiskey Creek and then were taken to Mammoth Lakes where they would meet their host families.
