Scribe Nov. 9 2016

This was a business meeting and Executive meeting.
Rotary Minute – in The Rotarian there is an article about Rotary having an airline that we do business with and get a payback.

Remembrance Day – Rick Singh played a song on his computer that had been received from Gary McIntosh.
A number of people were present who had been away the last few weeks.  These included Joann, Jerry, and Scott.  Jeff was late as usual and Alan was also late.

Adventures in Citizenship – Bob reported on his findings.  Cost will be about $1300 for registration and air fare.  We have the money but it will take a lot of our free money.  Consideration should be given to partnering with another Rotary club.  It was decided, without a motion, to go ahead.  We must register quickly. Bob Gray will handle this event.

Social Next Week.  There will not be a morning meeting.  A reservation has been made at the Cabin.  Two set 3 course menus are available for groups – one is $30 and the other is $40.  Both have a variety of salads, a variety of mains and 2 or 3 deserts to choose from.  It was not clear if the entire group must opt for one or the other.  Rick Singh is arranging though he will be away.  The December social will be the Christmas party at Renee’s complex.  Food will be catered but it will be a BYOB (bring your own bottle) event.

Sip and Savour – This was reported to be a successful event some suggestions for the future were:
Better training for wine pourers to represent the wineries
More music
Better identification of paid people.  Some wrist bands were hard to see.
Better identification of 50/50 sellers and more indication of Rotary’s part.
More Rotary presence at the event

Beatlemania – A question was asked about funds raised.  It was stated that $3250 was raised.  A comment that most attendees were over 60 years old was made.  It was suggested that there is an abundance of young ladies at St. Kitts.
