RCMP YOUTH PROGRAMS- CORPORAL JULIE BIORN RCMP.

Julie gave us an overview of the Youth programs and mentioned our early support of

The Junior Police Academy has been instrumental in its success.
Initially it has less than 100 6-10 year old participants this year will be 500 for the one week event.

The two students present Amy Saran and Baldeep Sahota told us about the Step Beyond and SPURS programs
which started last year.They explained the benefits of a close working relationship with the RCMP and how
they were able to provide good information to their peers when they returned to school to present their experiences.

Julie gave us the costing of the Programs : Step Beyond $4000:SPURS $20,000 and Junior Police Academy $6000.
At this time they need $7,000 for the SPURS  PROGRAM and  $3000 for the Academy. We advised we will look at
what we can do to assist when our Board meets on May 17th.
