On Friday Oct 12th. Ajay Caleb and myself had the privilege of attending the 2012 Young Adult Writing Contest annual presentation of winners. The Surrey Rotary Club has been a sponsor for several years and we provide the first Prize award (a Check to each winner in the amount of $150.00). This year was the 25th Anniversary of this contest and took place at the new Central City library.
Early in the summer the judges assemble to shortlist the 100's of entries to the final 20. which are then further adjudicated to come up with the 1st.,2nd,3rd and Honourable mentions. Theses finalist's then get their submissions printed in the Annual book.(I have a copy to share at our meeting). The work is truly inspiring. Here I am pictured with the 5 first place winners. Special thanks to Melanie Houlden,Chief Librarian and Surinder Bhogal Deptuty Chief librarian for including us in this event.
