Last Tuesday we had the pleasure of the visit of our District Governor  Bill Robson and Assistant Governor Lynn Spence.

His keynote theme was "it's all about the members"
Our District 5050 has 2660 members Its been pretty static for some years
Its time to reflect on Why you joined? Why you stay? and then tell the world
why so they can see the benefits of joining Rotary.

THe Rotary Foundation is our Charity it funds our worldwide works and is one
of the most efficiently managed Charities so we maximize the funds at work.
Very little overhead. We need to get 100% participation so we can meet the
pressing needs of our society. Example our Waterwell project in Benin was
largely funded by funds from the Rotary Foundation.
Polio Eradication - in 1985 we promised the children of the world we would rid
the world of polio at that time we expected $120 million would fund the program.
So far we have raised over 1 billion and we are still not there but "O so Close"
Africa is now declared Polio Free. Only 2 countries remain Afganistan and
Pakistan.. When we started there were 3 strains of Polio type 1,2 & 3
Only type 1 remains and the last case was found Sept 16th.2015 Polio has a 6 week incuupation
period so if we can break the transmissions in Afganistan and Pakistan we have succeeded.

District Governor Bill concluded his address by presenting World Class Pins
Walt Johnson for 45 years of perfect attendance
Duane buchanan for 40 years as a member.
Assistant Governor Lynn Spence & President Ed Landry for their world class leadership.
He then presented 2 Rotarian of the month awards to John Edwards and Dick Wareham
for their work on the Innovative Labour Solutions Awards a resounding success in
promoting the benefits of hiring persons with disablilities.
