Interesting timing me thinks Oct 31st is a Ghoulish Scary night. Here we are talking about giving Blood.
This week our featured speaker was Jeffrey O'Brien. Partnership Specialist from the Canadian Blood Services
Clinic in Guildford. Jeffrey understands service and has made getting himself worked out of a job by getting donations
maximized at the Guildford Clinic.  He provided us with some interesting facts about Blood.
Blood has a shelf life of 42 days.So regular donations a must.
Once taken Blood is divided into 3 components that provide specific solutions.
One in sixty people give blood. You can give between ages of 17 to 61
(If you have given before age 61 your Doctor can ok continued donations)
It takes 50 donations to provide enough blood for a patient from a serious accident.
To give blood you make appointment (preferred) with a Clinic.Total time about an hour
(10 mins for the actual transfusion).
The Canadian Blood Services are funded federally and do not pay for blood.  For more information www.blood.ca or call 1-888-2 DONATE to get appointment. Bryce McElroy provided Jeffrey with a token of our appreciation for taking the time to speak to us.
