On wednesday May 16th . Duane Buchanan escorted the finalists in Our Adventures in Citizenship Program to Victoria for a tour of the Legislature
and visits with Several Cabinet Ministers.

Member Isabelle Hayer also assisted in getting all to the Legislature. This part of the program was enabled by Honorary member David Hayer MLA. and hosted by Chantel Elloway. A fitting conclusion to  our 2012 event. The students will be attending our June 29th meeting to tell us about their Adventures and our Finalist alliance Babunga who went to Ottawa will tell us about her trip and the impact of this program.

Our Honorary member and MLA Dave Hayer presented the Students to the Legislature(here is the text of his presentation)

Mr Speaker, joining us in the gallery are 4 exceptional students from Kwantlen Park Secondary School in Surrey. These students are Leea Stott, Alliance Babunga, Jasmin Ring and Faythe Lou. They are accompanied by teacher Ms. Neetu Dhaliwal who is my former constituency assistant & her family is a very prominent pioneer family in Canada.

I would like to recognize these amazing individuals, as they are the winning finalists in the Surrey Rotary Club's citizenship development program. Each of them wrote a short speech about  what being a Canadian citizen means to them and what contributions they have made to the community of Surrey. This competition and trip is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Surrey and their Adventures in Citizenship program.

They are also joined here by the Rotary Club of Surrey volunteer supervisor & past president of the Rotary Club of Surrey, Mr. Duane Buchanan, and my wife, Isabelle Martinez Hayer who is also the past president of the Surrey Rotary Club. I have welcomed students from the Adventures in Citizenship program to Victoria for over the past 11 years and I would appreciate it if the House would please make these exceptional students, their teacher & volunteers very welcome.

Taking time out from a very busy schedule as they were in session were the following ministers. Hon Colin Hanson,Hon Blair Lextrom,Hon Kevin Falcon and speaker of the House Bill Barisoff and of course Hon.Dave S Hayer.
