Our Rotary Club ROCKS !!!
One of the great events that happened this past week is that the WESTHILL trail project is almost done. Brian & Cleone lead a group of Students from Heritage Woods Senior Secondary School and the help of 2 men from Innervisions put concert pads down for the benches that will be put in.
This is the letter Brian wrote which will make your heart very happy.
The students from Heritage Woods Secondary had so much fun – even the girls got into it big time!
They all worked hard, carried tools, fetched water, dug holes, chopped back shrubs……..AND mixed cement in wheelbarrows!
All under the expert tuition of both Kieran and Jeff from Innervisions. They were amazing instructors – and were so thrilled they could help. Both had concrete pouring and finishing experience!
At the end (today), we all sat around in a group, with Cleone, George Broderick and myself telling them about Rotary.
And the piece de resistance, was Kieran and Jeff telling the students, THEIR story and about Innervisions. The kids were wide-eyed and attentive to their stories of recovery.
Linda, it was simply beautiful.
I will call Max on Monday and give him some feedback on both Kieran and Jeff. He should be proud of his team’s work.
The main teacher was Brooke Wilson, who this was all arranged with – and Mike Baldus. who helped out on the day.
PS: Watch the two little videos on the second day. The kids were asked to compact the soil prior to the pour by jumping up and down within the formwork!!!

2024 Rotary Club of Port Moody's SHRED-A-THON
WHAT A DAY......And we didn't have to worry about the 'R' word. It was chilly but always fun to meet and see the wonderful people in our community.
Thanks to the 23 members who came out to help and to the rest of the members who either dropped in to 'shred' or put up posters in their buildings or on mail boxes, coffee shops etc.
We had a wonderful turn-out and although it seemed slow at times, it was steady.
It is because of those that take the donations, keep track of the money, directing the traffic, unload boxes making sure there is no photos and plastic, bringing in treats, wheeling bins to the truck, keeping up the social media, Thanking all the customers and talking about RIBFEST and Summer Sundays, and most of all having fun. What a great club we have.!!!
I am grateful for all who came by for a bite to eat after and enjoyed the fellowship that we all love.
Bill looks like you have a bit of competition this year. Yep that's Dave Stone inside a bin taking out photos that someone put in their shredding.
BUT then again, who would go and get a little whisk to do this?
YES our King of recycling, Bill. Thanks for keeping our community clean.
It seems every year we learn a bit more, but this event goes on without a hitch with the help of everyone.
A job well done and the community is grateful that we do this.
