Tom gave his classification talk on his career in retail property management, taking us from Eastern Canada all the way out to the West Coast. He moved around quite a bit over the years, which made for some great stories. It was a really interesting talk—and pretty funny too!

“The Rotary Belize team volunteered to host a table at the House of Friendship at the district conference.
Attending were Arid Flavelle and Harmit Bath from Abbotsford, and Glen Brown and Al from our club. During the breaks, the House of Friendship was very busy and we talked to 100’s of people.
After the conference we received an email for the Rotary club of Monroe asking us to present to their club on the Belize projects.
They also announced that they had set aside $1,000 US to give away to a project their team deemed the most inspiring.
They selected the Belize Literacy team. Well done team!"

"In the article “It’s foundational” (February), Alison Sutherland wrote about the eight pillars that support Positive Peace. I believe, however, that this list is missing a critical ninth pillar: a stable climate.
A warming planet is causing increasing heat waves, droughts, wildfires, and crop failures, which in turn are causing a rise in conflicts and migration. These things all work against peace and make the eight other pillars must more difficult, if not impossible, to achieve. Without a stable climate, there will be less and less peace. Rotary, working within the environment area of focus, can help prevent still more warming and climate disruption. The children of the world are hoping we have the wisdom to do so.
