A little more about our newest member Tom
Tom and his wife Fiona have been married for 23 years and have two boys. Tom's wife is in charge of the science lab at Centennial high school. One son is in third year Mechanical Engineering at UBC and the other is starting Electrical Engineering at BCIT.
Tom’s Dad was a Rotarian and would often take Tom to help at Rotary events. The earliest one Tom can remember is when he was in grade one he helped clean up after a dinner/dance that Rotary put on at the Markham Fall Fair. His favourite event was selling raffle tickets for the Owen Sound Rotary’s annual car give away.
The first Rotary club that Tom belonged to was the Windsor Club and because of his profession he has been a member of clubs from Dartmouth Nova Scotia to Port Moody.
Tom is actually a past member of the Port Moody club but had to resign due to family and work requirements. However he kept up with club’s activities as he continued to receive the Golden Spike newsletter. Tom is very happy to be given the opportunity to rejoin the Port Moody Rotary Club
Welcome back Tom !!!!
Yvonne and Andy are both with the Maple Ridge Club now.Guest speaker this week was past member and Member of the Maple Ridge Club - Yvonne Berrisford.
Yvonne did an outstanding job telling us about a project she and their club are supporting in South Africa.
It is a facility called Rosemoor and they service 95 senior patients with 65 staff. They have many issues with their building such as no hot water, so a hot water heating system need to be installed, washing machines need to be replaced and there are electrical problems. This project will be in conjunction with the Rotary Club of George in South Africa. All funds raised will go to help this facility and make it a better place for these seniors to live. She is asking our club for $2000.00 Canadian to help.

Yvonne won the bottle of wine this week !!!

Past President Rick has given his resignation to our Rotary Club. He has moved and finds the commute to Rotary early in the morning just too much. We are thankful for the time he has spent in our Rotary Club and we wish him well on this new chapter of his life.

We lost a dear friend on August 29th, 2025. Past Rotarian, Past President of RWH, amazing friend and citizen of Port Moody who earned the Key to our City, Ann Hulbert passed away after a long fight. We send our condolences to her son and Grandchildren. RIP Ann xoxoxo
Flags have been lowered at civic facilities to honour the passing of former Port Moody City Councillor Ann Hulbert. She served on Council for 23 years and received the Freedom of the City Award, the highest honour Port Moody can bestow, for her significant contributions to the community. We offer our deepest condolences to Ms. Hulbert’s family and friends.
Ann's son Jason wrote this on Instagram:
Social media is great for getting the word out for both happy and sad events. Unfortunately this is a sad post. Mom passed away last night just short of her 85th. She had a series of health issues for a prolonged period of time and it was expected but as always it’s still a shock. My one request is to not remember her for the last number of years as she went through her health complications but as the person she was. Never afraid to lend her voice/opinion to what she thought was important, a city council member and volunteer in @cityofpomo for decades. Hence my reason for choosing this picture of her, in her happy place, being involved. More info to come regarding a celebration of life. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to check on her and visited her, it did not go unnoticed. Love you mom, say hi to dad for me. ❤️
PS. the photo that Jason is referring to is on Instagram and is Ann at the podium at Rotary.
