The Dan's [Danne]

Our Guests this week were:  Matt Dolan & his beautiful wife Maryam Massah-Dolan
We had 17 people in attendance and 8 'on line' including our Guest Speaker - Terry Winship from South Africa.
Our guest speaker was 'amazing'. !!!  I'm not sure what else to say about her.  She started her presentation saying that she was about to be 50 years old and wondered if she would be happy to sit on her lounge chair for that year or go and do something. She was a single Mom of a 9 year old daughter and made the decision to travel the world for 366 days.  They sold 'everything' they owned and off they went.  The experiences were wonderful and exciting.  Terry's main focus for this was to experience as much as they could and be safe.  They had a ticket for around the world with 10 stops.
So much to tell you, but 'Travel Light and Experience More' was the theme.
This was what they took for the year.....
We all listened in 'awe' of she and her daughter,..... and she ended by saying something like:
What will YOU do with your life?

Thank you to Ian for arranging ... and Micheal and Coreen will take Terry her 'Golden Spike' when they go to SA.

Random photos [ another of Pete with eyes closed]

We all wished Ann and very Happy Birthday and get well soon with a card.  Thank you Gayle for organizing

A great turnout for Clean-Up Heritage Mtn. Blvd.  Nice to see so many members and family members come help.
Thanks to Alan S for organizing.  If you have a 'vest' at home, can you please return to Alan?, we seem to be missing some.  Missing from photo is guess who?

We went to 'Recovery Day' in NewWestminster and George and I were shocked to see this tree.....It was shocking and very emotional....A tree with the names of those who have lost their lives to 'overdose'.
BUT on the bright side, there were so many people who have recovered from Addiction and all the Recovery places had tents there.  Innervisions was there with a tent, and was a 'stage sponsor' for the Bands.  Fantastic event.  Well done !!!

Thanks to Cleone for organizing the picnic at Old Orchard Hall on Sunday.  Those Rotary tents sure do come in handy !

Remembering Ed......
It is with a sad heart that one of the Rotary Club of Port Moody's 'Honorary Members' and Coquitlam Sunrise's Honorary Member, passed on,  September 13th.  This is what Lori Munro, Ed Nadort's daughter wrote:

Today we said goodbye to my 92 year old dad, at peace with a life well-lived. Two kids, three grandkids, married nearly 65 years to mom. Born in The Netherlands, emigrated to Canada in 1953, he was a watchmaker, jeweller, member of MENSA, and could fix anything. Dad couldn’t abide small talk, bad grammar, or off-tempo ‘Happy Birthday’ (sung in harmony). Kept people at arm’s length, but showed his connection through actions – fertilizing my mom’s name into the lawn, designing and building me an A-frame playhouse and my brother a treehouse, and making gorgeous toys for Erin and Alex. He gave to the community, working extensively with Rotary (‘birthing’ several TriCities clubs), donating blood over 75 times, and problem solving solutions for the less-abled via Tetra Society. He mellowed as he aged, and as Vascular Dementia took some of his memory but gave him a wicked (and bawdy) sense of humour. Halfway to an orphan now. ❤
Ed was an amazing mentor to our Rotary Club of Port Moody and was very helpful when Gene Vickers started this club.  Rest In Peace, Ed.....you were a wonderful, loving, kind and generous man.  We were Blessed to know you.
