Big News! Darrell Burnham has been selected by the Rotary District 5050 Nominating Committee as the District Governor Nominee Committee! Once the 14 day nomination becomes official, Darrell will begin his 3 year training for his DG post which begins July 1, 2028. Congratulations Darrell – very deserving!
Our beautiful Vida Peterson has been a Rotary member for 40 Years! Also Vida is featured in this month’s Rotary magazine speaking of some of her many experiences - thank you for all the truly amazing work you have done and continue to do in our club and around the world!
Excited to have our Guest Speaker this week: Victoria Segovia Borja, Rotary Youth Exchange Student. Victoria is joined by her Host Dad, Andrew Doyle.

Our guest this week was Victoria who is the Past Vice-President of the Lugue Interact Club in Paraquay.
Victoria is 17 years old and is on her city’s volleyball team.
She likes animals, listening to music, and speaks two languages – Spanish & Guarani and now learning English. She also loves travelling and experiencing new cultures. Victoria’s dream is to get a scholarship in Architecture at a university in Canada.
Victoria, along with her family, are Rotary members of District 4845 which makes up Argentina and Paraguay.
Some facts about Victoria’s home:
Luque City is the city of the harp, guitar, filigree, and capital of South American football
Traditional dances including polka and guarania. Paraguayan music are part of the thriving Guarani culture.
Delicious foods such as Terere - hot mate and terere with cold water and medicinal herbs - is the national drink of Paraguay.
Victoria's favourite traditional dish is Chipa Guazu which is made with corn
Famous tourist spots are Pantheon of Heroes, Templo Buenaventura, and the Government Palace.
Victoria loves Canada and says that her favourite Canadian food is poutine! She is thoroughly enjoying her time in Port Moody and loves attending school at Heritage Woods and developing friendships.
She is starting a fundraiser to have her parents join her and her fellow Rotary exchange students in Los Angeles and Disneyland in June, 2026. If anyone has any odd jobs for Victoria to help her in raising money, please reach out to Darrell for Victoria's contact info.

Fun time was had by all at Thirsty Thursday at the Legion!
Monica Delgado, President Nominee, has a personal request shoutout. Monica’s daughter and hubby need a housing rental. The landlord is selling their rental and have given them a 3 month notice to vacate. Also in the household are 2 children (ages 9 and 17) and one small dog (age 4). Both children and dog are well trained and well behaved.
