Fantastic presentation by Keesa & Ken about Y.E.S.  Youth Engaged in Service.
This program was founded by DG Bev Harrington.
They are looking for Grade 11 students that would be willing to go to do a service project in Guatemala.  This project involves meeting once a month for 10 months to learn all about where they are going and how they will handle the travel and the project. This is not a vacation and they will learn how to expect the unexpected.   The Rotary Club sponsors each student for $1200.00 and then each student has to raise $2500.00 for the balance.
They work together as a 'team' to raise this money and the results are amazing.  Great work done by all.

Rotary Foundation reports
Rotary Champions of Girls’ Empowerment
Six Rotary members were honored in March as People of Action: Champions of Girls’ Empowerment during Rotary Day with UNICEF in New York City. This distinction recognizes the honorees’ commitment to improving girls’ access to education, health, and sanitation and hygiene resources, as well as their work to create environments where girls can flourish. Empowering Girls is one of RI President Shekhar Mehta’s key initiatives, and he is encouraging clubs and districts to make it a focus of their service projects this year.
Momtaz Chowdhury from Bangladesh, Mildred Fragante from Philippines, Elaine Ruiz from Brazil, Srinidhi S U from India, Lydiah Njoroge from Kenya, and Motalib Weijters from The Netherlands are working every day to create environments where girls can flourish.

How Rotarians in Poland are Assisting Ukrainian Refugees
Poland has taken in more than a million refugees and Rotary clubs all over the country created a central account for contributions.
  • The Rotary Club of Olsztyn is collecting and managing donations for more than 150 Ukrainians who are staying at Ostróda Camp, a conference and recreation center. Most of the occupants are unaccompanied children whose parents stayed in Ukraine. Four cars full of supplies including food, clothes, toiletries, and toys were donated hours after the center began accepting refugees.
  • Members of the Rotary Club of Zamosc worked with a member of the Rotary Club of Wolsztyn, who owns a medical supply distribution company, to coordinate a partnership with other organizations to collect supplies and equipment.
  • The Rotary Club of Gdansk Centrum is providing accommodations for four refugee families, and members who own businesses are offering them work.
This is Rotary, People of Action! Thank you for your support of the victims of the war in Ukraine.

We need Volunteers for our RIBFEST......please ask your family, friends and neighbours to come on out and help for a few hours.  It is great fun to meet other people who also like to 'give back' to our Community.
