Announcements:

Patty spoke about the dinner on Tuesday night at the Westwood Plateau Golf Academy where the 4 Tri-Cities Clubs chartered a new Interact Club. Remember they are our Rotarians of the future and we will need to have 1 Rotarian to attend each of their regular meetings.

Meeting on Monday evening June 4th at 5 pm at Gayle’s house to discuss our Community grants.  

Linda reminded us our Shred-a-thon is coming up June 9th at City Hall...Please sign up to help.  Tell you neighbors and friends to bring their documents to City Hall early.

REMEMBER our Installation night is coming June 14th. Information is coming to everyone except President -Elect Ian.

One of our past Rotarians, Orland Lee, is home from hospital now.  I'm sure he would love to meet 'you' for coffee at Gallaghers.

Cleone thanked everyone who turned out for her RibFest work party. We painted over 2,000 blocks and most importantly George Balzer, Ian, Danne, Dan et al, managed to construct our human “Foosball arena” for the Kid’s Zone. Danne also did double duty BBQing hot dogs and smokies (including his special recipe fried onions) for the hungry workers.

May 31st the City of Coquitlam is holding an all day forum on “Human trafficking” at Coquitlam City Hall.

May 25th was Pie Day at Eagle Ridge Manor.

Speaker Rachel French has been an Elementary School teacher and counsellor in SD 43 since 2005. She is now coordinator for developing a Student Mental Health Program promoting positive mental and physical health emphasizing well- being, developing a common language, where does it fit in, and setting long term vision and goals. SD43 is one of only 3 Districts that have created a position to focus on this area.

15-20% may need some preventative steps

2-5% will need some intervention

Stress is normal

Her job focuses on the need to develop and strengthen the understanding for educators, youth and families of the pathway to care.
