Our Guests At This Week’s Meeting: Geoff Scott – Tri Cities Community TV, Lisa Kabatoff, Meghan Lahti – Mayor of Port Moody
For our final community grant of our Rotary’s fiscal year, our club is so pleased to present a grant to Tri Cities Community TV (TCCTV), a non profit organization based in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody.
Dedicated to highlighting local voices and community events, TCCTV also offers training in media production and provides opportunity for community members to share their stories.
Thank you Geoff for the work you, Cathy, and the rest of your team for all the important work you do in bringing us all together through your community story telling.
Our club is happy to welcome Meghan Lahti, Mayor of Port Moody, as our guest speaker. A long-standing member of our club, Meghan took time out of her busy schedule to reconnect and share updates, which we greatly appreciated.
Meghan was first elected to City Council in 1996 and, in 2022, was elected as Port Moody’s first female mayor. She has focused her term on managing growth, particularly by supporting transit-oriented development and new housing projects in the city’s core. Her record emphasizes maintaining quality of life—highlighted by high resident satisfaction—while addressing challenges such as traffic congestion, infrastructure limits, and regional transit funding pressures. She has also prioritized transparency, community engagement, and balanced economic growth through business support initiatives and long-term planning strategies.
Meghan spoke to us about the many awards Port Moody has received in the past couple of years, including a notable environmental recognition for having the second-best tree canopy in the Lower Mainland—an achievement that reflects the city’s strong commitment to sustainability and natural beauty.
She also highlighted exciting progress on the Inlet Field House project, a significant community initiative that includes a valued partnership with Rotary. In addition, Meghan shared the important work her council has done in supporting seniors in the community, ensuring they remain connected, supported, and well-served.
Throughout her term, Meghan and her council have focused on maintaining a careful balance—encouraging much-needed housing development to strengthen the city’s tax base, while preserving the harmony, livability, and environmental beauty that make Port Moody such a special place.
As Meghan shared, “Our goal is to grow thoughtfully—supporting our community’s needs today while protecting the character and natural beauty that define Port Moody for generations to come.”

Gayle, our Book Boss, diligently oversees the management of the little Rotary Library at Old Orchard Park. She keeps the shelves well stocked and, whenever books start to run low, she goes on the hunt for more.

ROTARY MINUTE:
In February 2026, Rotary magazine highlighted a global peace effort spanning Colombia, India, and Chad. In Colombia, Rotary partnered with the UN World Food Programme to break cycles of violence and poverty, while in India, a regenerative agriculture project restored stability for over 1,100 farmers across 50 villages. In Chad, a Rotary Peace Fellow helped more than 100 former women fighters rebuild their lives through training and cooperative work—showing that peace grows where dignity and opportunity are restored.
