Thank you to Mike Clay for suggesting that we have our Rotary meeting at the Outpost. It is bright, clean and the pastries went over very well.
Mandy & Jory were our guest speakers and I think we all have learned a lot about Real Estate and the market today.
Marcon builds an excellent home with attention to detail. They will celebrate their 40th Anniversary this year and are the 2nd largest builder in BC.
President Rick went to the 'Presidents meeting' and it is 'Our' year to host the Christmas Breakfast meeting. Put your thinking hats on as to what we can do for this event.
August 18th, is Car Free Day and Peter M is looking for volunteers. We need set up and take down volunteers, Cashiers and people to ID check and put on wrist bands, pour & serve beer. 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Our area will be called the Rotary Family Patio. Cider, wine and beer will be sold. It is always a fun day.
August 15th - Innervisions BBQ. Thank you to: Ian, Glen & Darrell for the BBQ's. Alan will do the shopping and Danne, Frank, Alan & Bill will be there to host the men for the BBQ and if anyone else would like to go please do. The men love this and this is a thank you for all the work these guys do for us. I will give you the address on Wednesday.
Locker clean up -
Well that was quite a day. We started at noon and finished at 4. We took everything out of the locker, I mean everything and started over.
Thank you to Joan for her blower and her encouragement every step of the way. As a new Rotarian she was amazed at all the ‘stuff’ we have. Also she organized all the drawers that we have and we have more pens and pencils and markers and notepads that we will ever need
Ian and Alan were there for the phone calls ‘should we keep this?’
Peter moved more boxes and was on the ladder all day long. Bill carried boxes back and forth but we found all the Green team stuff and has a great suggestion that all the shirts for the green team be the same color each year with just the year change.
Glen came to pick up the inflatable Rotary Wheel and stayed for awhile helping move stuff back into locker
President Rick came to take away the trash but really we didn’t have much to take away.
We have water & glasses for Car Free day and paper plates and napkins for Innervisions BBQ but other than that we are stuck with stuff. We did not do the signs which will be a whole other project but needs to be done. We have lumber that we will probably never use.
And not to mention those 2 huge white boards that take up so much room.
Well it is tidy and we know where every thing is but you still can’t walk into the locker. Do we need a bigger one? Good question ?

- Peter Hulbert Accessibility Award honours an individual or group that has contributed to the removal of barriers for individuals with accessibility needs or the promotion of inclusivity – i.e. welcoming all people to participate in all aspects of community life – in Port Moody;
- Arts Award celebrates an individual, organization, or business that significantly contributes to, and participates in, the artistic and/or cultural life of Port Moody;
- Climate Action Award recognizes individuals, community groups, schools, organizations, and businesses who advance the goals and objectives of the City’s Climate Action Plan;
- Environmental Award recognizes outstanding accomplishments and contributions that advance environmental preservation, increase awareness, and support climate change action;
- Heritage Award honours an individual, organization, or business that advances heritage conservation in Port Moody through special initiatives or projects that preserve, rehabilitate, restore, or create awareness of a cultural resource; and
- Sports Award (Adult) recognizes exceptional contributions that have furthered the growth, reputation, and/or character of sport through sport administration, coaching, officiating, and participation – please note the City will seek nominations for the Sports Award (Youth) between January and April 2025.
The Civic Awards are presented every two years to deserving people, organizations, and businesses that have made significant contributions to the community. Civic committees review nominations and forward recommendations to Council for consideration and final decision. The winners of the 2024 Civic Awards will be announced in January 2025.
Speaking of Bill I never did write down the number of Steps Bill had for RIBFEST 2024. Peter Muir had the closest guess to his number of steps.

Thank you to the 'guys' [Darrell, Peter, Neil, Frank, Mike, Bill & Rick, Alan] who Cleaned up Heritage Mtn. Blvd. on Saturday. Apparently 'Frank' saw them cleaning up last time and wanted to join in the fun. Thank you Frank for helping clean our community clean along with Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Port Moody. Well done !!!!
