It is through tears that I must tell you that our dear friend and sister in Rotary, Jeannie passed away.  We will all miss Jeannie's bright light, fiesty spirit and big, big heart.  We all know how valiantly she fought her cancer and we can take some solace in knowing that she was ready to pass and to join her son Steven.  As she told us "LEAVE YOUR LIGHT ON" even as we mourn our loss.
There will be a Club memorial at a later date.

We are collecting her photographs, if you have some, please forward to me and we will make a photo gallery with them.

Peace be with you.
President Coreen

NOVEMBER IS FOUNDATION MONTH – THE ROTARY FOUNDATION

Memorial and Tribute Gifts

If you wish to honor or memorialize someone with a contribution to The Rotary Foundation, the best way is to userotary.org/donate and choose “I would like to make this donation in honor or in memory of someone.”

The donor making the contribution will receive gift credit and a tax receipt (where applicable). The person they wish to honor, or the person’s family in the case of a memorial, will be notified of the gift.

Note: For tax and legal reasons, be sure to list your own name as the donor when sending funds to the Foundation, and not the name of the person you wish to honor. Consider giving Foundation Recognition Points to someone as an alternative if you wish to honor them with recognition.

The process is simple, and honorees and family members can be notified by email or by a print-at-home notification.

Interested in making a gift to The Rotary Foundation as a memorial or tribute to honor a loved one? Give today at www.rotary.org/donate

Please pass this along to your family, friends and neighbours.  We can all help a little.

What can you give a woman who just turned 107?

107 ACTS OF KINDNESS
Several people have contacted Jeff McMillan to ask if there was anything being organized for Mary Anne Cooper's 107th birthday. There is no parade or fanfare planned for her birthday this year.

One question that I never thought I would ever ask in my lifetime is 'What do you get someone who is turning 107?'

The simple answer is, something that makes her smile. Click on the link below to take the MAC pledge and do something kind between October 23rd and Mary Anne's birthday on October 30th .

Be sure to use the hashtag #MAC107 when posting or email your birthday wishes to happybirthday@spiritofportmoody.ca

Together we are better, and life is an adventure. So let's show Mary Anne that we know the importance of kindness and helping others.

Updates were given by Brian on the Westhill project, and from Susan on the Book Club.  Susan and Jim hosted a pot luck dinner for the first 'in house' Book Club meeting and it was very well attended.  They had a great time and had good discussion on the book 'The Hummingbird'.....  The next book was suggested by Ian.....Please pick up your own copy and join in the fun......The new book will be 'Three Cups of Tea'.

'Go For Rotary' has started, BUT never too late to invite people to come along for the FUN....
Glen has done an outstanding job promoting this, but it has to be done by all the club members.  I wonder who will come in FIRST.......
