Guests: Wolf Schamberger, neighbour to Peter Cuthbert (and hopefully new member) and TJ Gibson.
Wolf also won the $50.00 gift certificate for the 'early bird draw'......Well done.

TJ was sent to Camp Jubilee by our Club and his emotional visit gave us all the 'exact reason' why we send Kids to Camp.  Thank you TJ...

Guest Speaker:  TJ Gibson gave us an update on his time at Camp Jubilee.  TJ works at Black Sugar Coffee, and ran into Ian at coffee.  12 years ago he was sponsored to do a counsellor in training program.  He was excited and it changed his life!  All his friends have come from camp and has experienced so many small things that have come out of his experience there.  What a moving talk!  Reminds us all of why we got into Rotary.

Birthdays: Andy Berrisford Oct 22 and Susan Miller Oct 23

October 24 is World Polio Day.  Our club does contribute $2500 per year to GolfFun which is out district's main fundraiser for Polio.  However there are lots of other ways to contribute including directly to PolioPlus, or email money to treasurer@portmoodyrotary.com

Congratulations to Al Stjernegaard on earning his Paul Harris +4 for his contributions to the Paul Harris Society.

Congratulations to Dave Stone for earning his first Paul Harris Fellowship for his contributions to the Paul Harris Society.

Rotary RIPS was on October 16.  This is a program to help eliminate invasive plant species from the Port Moody environment.  There was only one volunteer who showed up, in the pouring torrential rain.  Kudos to Brian for organizing!

October 18 was our Board meeting.  A grant was approved in principal for a great project.  New View Society (Poco) needs $3000 for a new lunch program.  They will come speak with us at a meeting to share.

October 18 was also a joint meeting between Rotary and Toastmasters.  Paul shared his story about Paul Harris and enjoyed the meeting.

On October 23 (Saturday), Brian organized a tree planting and shrub planting at our Westhill Park project.
Brian sent us all an extensive report on the 'happenings' for this projection Saturday.  Brian you have taken this project 'full' on and we are grateful for all the work you have done.  Thanks also to Dan G, Michael, Glen and Sarah [from the City]

Our Rotary Success with the PolioPlus Campaign

Because of Rotarian support, more than 2.5 billion children have received polio vaccines and have been protected against this crippling disease for life. There are currently only two countries that are endemic: Afghanistan and Pakistan. We must not stop our efforts until we give the children a Polio Free world!

Will you help The Rotary Foundation make history by eradicating Polio from our planet? Give today at endpolio.org.

Thank you to Mike P for sending me the notes from the meeting almost before the meeting is over.  I really appreciate that Mike

Look for the random October photos at the bottom of the Spike.  Thank you Yvonne, Susan and Brian for taking photos...
