This event is planned by youth alumni in partnership with local Rotary clubs and Elders.
Mission:
To build relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples
Raise Awareness
Generate Funds
Biggest program of HIP is the National Y2Y program:
- HIP Y2Y is a yearly National youth forum that takes fifty youth from across Canada – 25 Indigenous, 25 non-Indigenous. Forum is held at a selected province each year for a week of cultural programming of land-based learning.
- 19 Rotary districts all working together with the youth, committing to building a brighter future – rooted in reconciliation, youth empowerment, and environmental sustainability while fostering peace and truth.
- Partnered with notable figures such as Phylis Webstad, creator of Orange Shirt Day who speaks about her life story and her residential school experience.
- This program is cost free for all participants including airfare, accommodation, and food.
- Fundraising is incredibly important.
- Together, we are not just shaping today - we are securing a hopeful and inclusive tomorrow for Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth.
Thank you Samantha and Emma – WOW! You are both so full of hope and bring such passionate and positive energy. Our club was truly inspired by your innovative spirit and energy – you make us feel so proud of our youth! As you saw at our meeting, we were very moved by your talk and would love to work with you on this amazing program of youth empowerment in promoting peace and truth, in any way we can.
