Claire did a fantastic job explaining all the services that Share covers in the Tricities.  She has such a great presence and is very engaging.  She told us even though they are serving so many more people this year than last, Claire said 'It is working'!!!  The story that struck me was about a young man who was addicted and lost everything.  He joined the 'group' reluctantly and didn't engage very much.  The staff organized a 'pot luck dinner' and this man brought his 'famous wings' and everyone complimented him on them.  It doesn't sound like much but to him it gave him a sense of belonging and worth.  Fantastic story. !!!!

SHARE Family & Community Services Society started as a children’s clothing exchange in 1972 in the basement of founder Gertie Grosser’s home and quickly became a focal point for community members who wanted to help themselves and their neighbours with life’s challenges.

Glen and Marcia made up this great collage of photos from the Belize trip.  He will take this to the Rotary International Conference in Calgary in late June.  AG Maureen Boyd did a presentation at the Coquitlam Club of their experience in Belize and we had many from the Rotary Club of Port Moody attend.  Al S, Dan G, Gayle, Mike C, Brian and Linda.  It was a wonderful meeting and all were very impressed with what has been accomplished and will be accomplished in Belize.  I spoke a few words about how this all got started and did not mention that after we met Cisco, we came back to our Rotary Club of Port Moody and we talked to Al about going to Belize just to see what he thought could be done.  Al took us up on that invite and he has been going strong ever since.  Now he has Glen and Brian on board as well who have taken many trips to Belize and encourage more to do the same.  This year I think they had 13 go with them.

I just want to give a big Shout Out to all of our members who came out today to help clean/organize our storage locker!  And also to Trish who saved some signs from going to the recycling depot by updating outdated old signs! 
It only took us a couple of hours and because of the good turnout, was fast and easy work (and fun!)

There is always a lot of trash after cleaning up the lock-up and Thank you to AL who went by today with his 'truck' and took away all the trash.  He said he feels so 'special' with our note to him. !!!!
 
 
A moment we've all been waiting for is finally here — though few know the full story, and even fewer remember how it all began.
 
This Wednesday, the Planning Committee will unveil something that will shape the future of our Club. It’s been kept under careful lock and key — and trust us, the wait will be worth it.
 
Be there to be part of history. Some secrets are too good to keep forever.
