Anna Mathewson. The City Manager of City of Port Moody,  came to our club for a “Meet and Greet” and to answer any questions that our club may have.

Anna is Port Moody’s new city manager effective earlier this year. Anna came to introduce herself and is looking forward to connecting with our members and to continue to support our club where possible.

Mathewson is a Registered Professional Planner and a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners. She earned a master’s degree in resource management from Simon Fraser University (SFU) following her undergrad studies at McGill University in Montreal.

Anna has led several important projects including the city’s urban forest management strategy, parks master planning and strategy initiatives and enhanced emergency weather response procedures, as well as multiple capital projects across the community service department.  Anna has also been instrumental in advancing the city’s organizational efforts in accessibility along with Truth and Reconciliation.

The city manager guides operations as well as staff in their provision of professional advice and recommendations to council while also leading the execution of council’s strategic plan.

 

 

Spirited Book & Wine Club – changed back to original date of every 2nd Thursday which makes next one May 9th.

Thirsty Thursday had a great group at the Legion.  We meet the 2nd Thursday of every month at the Port Moody Legion at 5:15pm.  Everyone is more than welcome.

Our City Manager, Anna Mathewson sent this reply to answer some of the questions that were asked of her at our Rotary meeting.

 

Thank you for having me at yesterday’s Rotary Club breakfast meeting. I enjoyed meeting the members.
 
I wanted to follow up and provide further information on our transportation work, given the many questions that I had on that topic. Attached is a recent staff report to Council on the Master Transportation Plan (MTP) update which contains a lot of information, and here is the link to that Plan Master-Transportation-Plan-Summary.pdf (portmoody.ca) which also features detailed lists of planned programs such as crosswalk and intersection upgrades over the short, medium and long-term. If anyone has follow-up questions, please send them my way and our team will address those.

This event will be held in Port Coquitlam.  We will need a couple of volunteers to man the table.  This event is to sign up 'new volunteers' to help with our Rotary events.  [RIBFEST]. Please let Alison know if you are available to help.

Thank you to all of you that helped make the Search for the Perfect Pint another successful fundraiser. 
 
Great team work - from set up to tear down it all went smoothly.
Everyone found a position to work, even if it was last minute.
 
The event did sell out and we had over 580 people through the doors.
 
I hope you all had fun and want to do it again next year!
 
Let me know if you have any feedback on how we can improve on anything.
