“Inside Hancock Park” tells the story of a unique community
in Los Angeles noted for its elegant mansions and its classic architecture.
The book describes the history of the prestigious neighborhood plus a biography of its founder G. Allan Hancock. The 100-plus pages also cover notable characters, celebrities, architects and community leaders. “Inside Hancock Park” reveals the challenges the residents have faced to maintain Hancock Park’s integrity such as plans for a freeway dissecting the area or the destruction of architecturally significant homes.
Author Jane Gilman is an honorary Wilshire Rotarian and the past editor/publisher of the “Larchmont Chronicle.” a newspaper covering mid-city communities including Hancock Park, Windsor Square and Miracle Mile. She retired in 2015 after 52 years. A native of Rye, New York, she is a graduate of Beloit College (Wisc)
