The Tournament of Roses Parade Rotary float won the 2018 Princess' Trophy for the most beautiful float 25' or under.  Riding on the float New Year's Day were John Mathews, Rotary International Director Zones 25/26 and Paul Netzel, Chair of the Rotary Foundation Trustees while other chosen Rotarians walked alongside the 5.5 mile route.  Rotary International President, Ian H.S. Riseley cheered on in the stands.

Always a fun volunteer event, our Rotary Club of Torrance Del Amo members and the West and Torrance High Interact clubs had the privilege of helping glue flowers onto the Rotary, Trader Joe's and City of Torrance Floats.  All floats won trophies in this year's parade.  Pictures can be seen in our photo album.

The annual 2017 Rotary District 5280 Angel City Celebration.  We participated in one of the biggest volunteer events in Rotary District 5280.  Rotarians from all over District 5280 provided a fair with pancake breakfast, health fair, book giveaways from the Los Angeles Public Library, bicycle giveaways, snow and, of course, the big toy giveaway.  Santa Claus even made an appearance!  The event benefited over 3,000 residents and children of South Los Angeles.  The event was headed by the Rotary Club of Los Angeles (LA5)'s Marjorie Heller.   See more in the photo album page.

Today at the 2017 Torrance State of the City luncheon, our own Bill Oberholzer was honored as the Distinguished Citizen of the Year for his many charitable contributions to the community with the Rotary Club of Torrance Del Amo and YMCA Board among others.  Club members enjoyed a nice locally prepared meal with a Midwest flair at the Torrance DoubleTree hosted by the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce.  We are so proud of Bill and are honored to have him as a member of our club and we encourage all to make a difference in their communities.  See photos in our photo album.

Today we began the 2017-18 Rotary year with Neal Bracewell as President.  Neal was inducted by Dr. Sylvia Whitlock, who in 1987 became the first female Rotary club president (Rotary Club of Duarte, CA)  after a Supreme Court ruling that Rotary clubs may not exclude women on the basis of gender.  We look forward to a great year with Neal at the helm.  See more pictures in our photo album.

UPDATE: The Rotary clubs of Torrance and Del Amo have merged to become the Rotary Club of Torrance Del Amo as of 7/1/2016,  BW

Torrance Rotary was the first service club established in the city. Torrance Rotary's emphasis since 1924 has been to help the community. We have built playgrounds, painted community buildings, fed & clothed needy families, provided summer camp for our youth and donated thousands of dollars to needy, local causes. Through our Torrance Rotary Education Foundation we have provided scholarships to hundreds of Torrance area high school graduates.
