Copper Clappers
-by Jim Hallett

It was Monday, August 10, 2020, and President Tim Hageman presented Debbie Arnold to present colors (actually a flag photo by Jay Harkenrider) and lead us in the Pledge, followed by her extolling the virtues of responsibility, patience and understanding, whereupon President Tim showed us a film starring Jack Webb and Johnny Carson extolling the virtues of copper clappers…..Rich Montgomerygave us his weekly COVID update, telling us BCHD is now offering free testing and reminding us of outdoor opportunities including hair, nails, workouts and dining.

Mystery Rotarian
Mystery Rotarians will reappear, tied in together with their 5-minute vocational talks.  Both of his grandfathers were in World War II.  His dad swam on a national championship USC swim team.  And he didn’t know his wife’s true height before they got married.  He is……..Jim Lambert, who provides outsourcing of IT services through his 20-year-old company, DivergeIT, a Gold Microsoft Partner.  He also creates technology automation projects, such as helping companies manage security (check out www.haveIbeenpwned.com) and digital check-ins for buildings (the Clippers are a client).

Jefferson Graham
Manhattan Beach personality Jefferson Graham is a photographer, a podcaster, an author and a jazz guitarist—and today he came to us to Talk Tech.  He had more tips and insights than I could even begin to keep up with—this is a recorded meeting we all might want to revisit.  New cell phone season is coming up soon, so don’t buy a new phone just yet—for example, the new 5G iPhone 12 will make the 11 much cheaper (and, by the way, most areas don’t yet have 5G connectivity).  Yes, tech stocks keep rising, and no one is quite sure why.  For hard drives, be sure to get SSD hard drives.  He likes Eero.  Other subjects included streaming wars, TVs, cameras, apps, telehealth, and computer repairs.  Check out www.JeffersonGraham.net.

Millennials
So we cannot rub shoulders personally any longer, but we can rub shoulders technologically, and we may as well learn how to do it effectively.  Attend Rotary and you too can become a millennial!
